Overview: South Boston (or “Southie”) is very popular among young professionals, graduate students and other people who need the ability to commute into downtown Boston on a regular basis.
Culture: South Boston has a historically prominent Irish-Catholic culture, but in recent years this neighborhood has become very diverse. There are several great bars and restaurants in the area, including Lincoln Tavern and Restaurant which is very popular at night and for brunch on weekends. The Seaport District is located on the east side of the South End and has several great entertainment options as well.
Transportation: MBTA Red Line services South Boston through Andrew Square and Broadway stations, as well as through the Silver Line at World Trade Center Station in the Seaport District.
